So you know when life flies by in a whirl...

That is how I feel the past year has been.  Ever since September, I have been running around doing things for work and school, hanging out with friends, and much more.  I guess that I am in a point in my life where everything goes fast and will slow down eventually, but not yet.  Yes, there are probably things that I could do to slow down, but I don't know if that is what I want to do.

I guess it doesn't matter, I am having fun, so I guess that is all that matters. :)

SO, the semester is over (Thank goodness!!!) and now it is time for summer.  I am taking one class in June, which will be Education Statistics, so hopefully it won't be as painful as it sounds.  Needless to say, I am not looking forward to it.

Things that are coming up soon:

I am going to a conference in Kentucky with a side trip to Cincinnati, so I am excited about that.

Also, I am planning a visit to Houston to see my sister and Mom in June, so that will be fun too.

I want to plan a time to go camping, but I there are so many weekends that are taken up by prior engagements, I don't know if it will work out.  Maybe if I can't travel during my vacation (hopefully I get all the days that I ask for) then I can try to go then.

That's about it...

A true sign of boredom

Did you know that toilet paper has been around since 589 AD? According to Wikipedia, there have been documents written that include talk about the use of paper for toilet purposes.

During the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) a Muslim traveler made this remark,

"They (the Chinese) are not careful about cleanliness, and they do not wash themselves with water when they have done their necessities; but they only wipe themselves with paper."[2]

The first rolls of toilet paper and dispensers that we know of today were invented by Seth Wheeler of Albany, NY in 1871. He was granted several patents for the actual roll and the dispensers that accompanied them. He sold the product under the name of the "Albany Perforated Wrapping Paper Co."

From Wikipedia :

"It is sold "by all the leading druggists" and is not medicated. It is marketed as being free of "all deleterious substances" which includes printed materials and chemicals "incident to the ordinary process of manufacture (which is) a cause of hemorrhoids." In addition, medicated toilet paper which is "heavily charged with ointment" was offered for "sufferers of hemorrhoids."

From there, toilet paper has evolved. Today, it comes in various forms : Quilted, containing Aloe, "Earth Friendly", and so on. You used to only be able to buy it at a drug store, but now it is practically everywhere.

The advertising of toilet paper has also evolved. Mr. Whipple taught us in a 1970's commercial to "Not squeeze the Charmin." Charmin is teaching us today that there are 2 different types of toilet roll for your needs, as demonstrated by cartoon bears. I wonder which one sold more rolls?

And just in case you go to another country, here are some common names for toilet paper : toilet roll (UK), TP (US Slang), Loo Roll (UK), Dunny Roll (unknown).

Now you can go and impress your friends with your new knowledge about toilet paper! :)

Random Quote for the day

I thought that this was funny... I don't have anybody in mind, but sometimes it could be me...

So I have been thinking...

Wouldn't it be cool to run in a competition? Something like a marathon or a mini-marathon. I have stumbled across a couple of blogs that I have been reading here lately, mainly PinkGuruGal, who participates in Triathlons. That consists of swimming, biking and running and is about 70 miles in total distance. There is no possible way that I could do something like that. Maybe if I follow through with training and running, maybe in the future, but right now, not so much. I think that it would be cool. It has been interesting just reading about all of the training that she does for the competitions and I am wondering how she is training, working a full time job and having a life too. It is just crazy. But I think that it could be fun.

I have had an interest in running. I ran track in Intermediate school and during my freshman year in High School. I was not a wonderful athlete, but I did not quite hold up the end. Running is also something that can be easily done by a beginner with no athleticism whatsoever. You are not required to have a special skill to run. As long as you don't trip over your feet, you will be fine.

It is just a thought. I think that it would be a cool way to meet people and get out and about and to try something different. It is time that I did something like that. I am too dull, so this is something that I could add to my radar.

We shall see what happens...
